Transformation through therapy.

Our therapy team provides free, high-quality trauma informed therapeutic services to children ages 2-18 who have experienced abuse, neglect, and/or trauma. Our therapists are highly certified and consistently seek new opportunities to broaden their skillset and knowledge base to better meet the needs of the children we serve. By utilizing play therapy, sand trays, and carefully stocked playrooms, we create a safe space for children to explore trauma and develop the skills and tools needed to cope with life after trauma. We customize each treatment plan and timeframe on a case-by-case basis. Children can also return for therapy as needed through the age of 18. Through therapy, transformation occurs and each child is given the hope and skills they need to reach their full potential.

Trauma

Trauma is a normal response to an abnormal circumstance. A traumatic event can be a one-time occurrence or a pattern of events that overwhelm an individual’s ability to cope or process the thoughts and emotions involved with the trauma. Traumatic events can have a significant impact on those who are directly involved as well as those who witness them. Unprocessed trauma can affect a person negatively throughout their life which is why timely and thorough treatment is vital.

Types of Therapy We Use

Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT)

TF-CBT helps children address distorted or upsetting beliefs and learn skills to help them cope with ordinary life stressors.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR encourages the patient to briefly focus on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), reducing the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories.
